Our SHINE ethos
At Anns Grove Primary School, school life is shaped by our shared values, a strong sense of belonging and our belief in the very best for every child.
Our SHINE ethos underpins everything we do:
Share
We share our cultural backgrounds and develop a strong sense of belonging for all our community.
Healthy
We teach children how to be physically and mentally healthy.
Inspire
We inspire positive and resilient learners who are excited and curious about their learning.
Nurture
We nurture the personal growth of safe, happy and well-rounded citizens.
Exceptional
We aim high, dream big and do everything to the best of our ability.
The Anns Grove Way
The Anns Grove Way describes how we work together as a school community. It reflects approaches that are grounded in educational research, shaped by our local context and proven to work well for our children. High expectations and a clear focus on what is best for each child sit at the heart of this approach.
Show kindness always
Show that manners matter
Learn like an expert
Walk like champions
Take pride in all that we do
Together, these values create a calm, caring and purposeful environment where children feel supported, valued and able to thrive.
School attendance
We believe that excellent school attendance is vital in enabling children to maximise the educational opportunities available to them, including their attainment, wellbeing and wider life chances. Attendance gives us the foundation we need for our pupils to succeed and is the responsibility of everyone within our community. Every school day matters.
Leadership opportunities
We believe in empowering pupils to lead and make a difference. Children take on roles such as School Council representatives, Office Angels, Reading Buddies and Playground Leaders, giving them a voice in school life and helping them develop confidence, responsibility, and teamwork skills.
Celebrations
Success is celebrated every week through our Shine Assemblies in KS1 and KS2, where pupils are recognised for effort, achievement, and character-Dojo points are school wide to reward and recognise kindness, resilience, and hard work, reinforcing our values across the school.
Forest School
Every child at Anns Grove experiences Forest School, where they learn practical skills, explore nature, and build problem-solving abilities in a safe outdoor environment. These sessions foster curiosity, independence, and resilience, while promoting teamwork and respect for the natural world. We enjoy a wealth of outdoor space and daily life includes opportunities to enjoy our climbing wall, cross country track, bee hives and class planting project.
After-school clubs
Our extensive range of after-school clubs ensures there is something for every child. From sports clubs (football, athletics, gymnastics) to creative arts, academic booster activities, and Outdoor Learning, these sessions enrich learning and allow pupils to explore new interests beyond the classroom.
Music and the Arts
We believe every child should experience the joy of music. Pupils have opportunities to learn to play a musical instrument, join singing groups, and take part in performances that celebrate creativity and confidence.
Our outdoor spaces
Anns Grove enjoys a richness of outdoor areas, including large playgrounds, sports fields, and dedicated spaces for outdoor learning. These areas provide room for physical activity, exploration, and play, supporting both wellbeing and academic success.
