Enrichment at Anns Grove is a central part of school life. We believe that school should not only focus on academic learning but also be a place for pupils to take part in new experiences, grow their cultural capital and develop their sense of self and character.
Here are some of the ways in which we provide enriching experiences to our pupils:
- A dedicated enrichment period on Friday afternoons for every child to learn new skills and take part in different activities. These groups are run by class teachers and include musical theatre, cookery and stop animation.
- A rich and varied programme of school trips, including residentials, which enable our pupils to get to know Sheffield and the wider area while deepening their learning at a range of important historical, geographical, scientific or cultural sites.
- Regular visits into school for workshops and activities from experts and volunteers, including students from the University of Sheffield.
- A range of free after-school clubs.
- Opportunities for pupils to take on jobs and responsibilities, including ‘reading champion’, ‘sports leader’ and ‘office angel’.
- Seasonal performances including nativities, choir concerts, and musical showcases, including working alongside Sheffield Theatres for bespoke performances.
- Weekly slots for peripatetic music lessons.
- Regular trust-wide art projects and competitions with other schools in Mercia Learning Trust.
